Rajasthan, the land of the "Maharajas", represents the ultimate confluence
of history, chivalry, natural beauty and colour. It is the most diversified and
fascinating state of India where the past and the present live in a stunning
harmony; the "Maharajas", who left behind them a magnificient heritage of glorious
palaces, massive fortified hilltop cities and splendidly endowed temples, the serene
villages with their charming folkart murals, the men in their colourful turbans and
the bejewelled women in their mirror embroidered skirts who still dress like the princes
and princesses.
From the rugged desert of Jaisalmer on the west to the natural habitat of wildlife on
the east, from the forgotten villages of Shekhawati with their "havelis" full
of frescoes on the north to the romantic hills of Arawalli on the south, Rajasthan
offers innumerable possibilities of different itineraries varying from ten to twenty
